Island of Mykonos

Mykonos, august 2008, 6 at the morning, Cavo Paradiso open Club. Guest DJ was David Guetta.

Cavo Paradiso is on the the edge of a rock, next to the sea. As the sun rises over the hill, the first rays of light  drop to the pull, to the sea, and finally to the exhausted clubbers.

From right to left: Panos, John, Alex . the friends I was in mykonos this summer.

Mykonos, august 2008, afternoon, Tropicana beach club.

Some days after the murder of an Australian young tourist by some assholes/body-builder/ gorilla/security/gangsters, fiesta is going on like nothing was happened.  It seems that people forget anything bad when it is time for party. Alcohol, loud music, dancing, sea, sun, drag queens, very sexy girls, hot boys (for the others...), and maybe ecstasy compose what the inland of Myconos is famous for.

Playfully speaking, they say that even the seagulls of the port are homosexual. This is said to point out how free are the mores in the island.

Island of Paros

The inland of Paros may lack of crazy night life, but surpasses regarding pictorial places. On the top, an insular-style church. Top-right, a windmill, usual for Kyklades island group. Right, cafe-bar Barbarossa is the hot spot of Paros.

Island of Santorini or Thyra

he island is one of the most extra ordinary places not only of the Greece but of the Europe and deserves some photos.

The name Santorini was given by Franks because of the "Santa Herene" church. According to myths, the second name "Thyra" was given by a spartan man the Thyrian, the first colonist of this piece of land . In fact, the island was dwelled many centuries before Sparta appears in history. Excavations revealed human's presence as back as 2.000 bc by the tribes of Pelasgians.

Right, photomap of Santorini. Once, there was a volcano (caldera) between the two peaces of land. After eruption (about 1550 bc), the center of the island was sunk, forming this strange shape.

Island of Hydra

Top, this is how I look like in a usual day.

Top-right, my girlfriend smiling with my grimaces.

Right, those donkeys are the only allowed means of trasport in island of Hydra. At least, they are not affected by the bloated price of petrol. Cars and motorcycles are strictly forbidden. Back to the 18th century.

Nafplio, my birthtown

Nafplio is where I was born and grown up until my eighteens.

Original name was Napoli Di Romania and was given by Venetians (Venezy,/Venice, medieval city-state in Italy).

In antiquity, the town was served the main port of the kingdom of Mykeneans (tribe: Achaeans, about 1200 BC), ancient people  which leaded the evasion  against Troy in Homeric Epics (known as Iliad & Odyssey). In the beginning of greek revolution  (1821 ac), nafplio was the first autonomous place and the first capital of the newborn greek state. Later, Athens got the leadership.

The town has strong heritages from Mycenaean, Roman,  Venetian and Ottoman civilizations.

At the top, this is Boyrtzi, a small castle built on a sea-rock in the entrance of town's port. Bourtzi was found by Venezians (medieval italy) at 1479 AC to repel Ottomans and named "Bourtz" by Ottomans that means castle . Top-right, the landmarks resembles to these of Napoli and Sicily.

Sallonica or Thessalonica

Sallonica is the economic and cultural center of makedonia and the rest of north greece. It is a part of my life as I leaved there for 9 years. Firstly, I moved in this big city of 1,3 million people for studding agriculture protection, and later I  attended msc lessons in agro-economics (trade competition & EU agronomic policy) when having various jobs as a student.

Thessalonica was found by Cassandros, one of the successors of Alexander the great, honorary to his conquer of Thessaly tribes (central greece). In ottoman times, a huge mass of jewish/turkish/bulgarian people settled in, giving a multicultural color in city's character. Synagogues and mosques are settled beside churches, makedonic and roman remains. The city was also the birth town of Kemal Ataturk the leader person who established modern Turkey.

The city is a real paradise for the undergraduates because of numerous bars, clubs, and the best of all, the tall beautiful women. The high of the local macedons was known in antiquity as Macedon means "tall man" in athenian dialect. Whether ancient macedons were greeks or whatever is not my job as I haven't met them.

In my opinion, it would be better if the locals did not have so many complexes about Makedonia's name, enmity for south greeks and jealousy for Athens because it is the capital.

At the top, the "White tower" built by ottoman turks. Top-right, the statue of Alexander the great riding his horse. Right, the forum built by Romans.

Tax the rich, feed the poor
Till there are no rich no more

Id love to change the world
But I dont know what to do
So Ill leave it up to you

Population keeps on breeding
Nation bleeding, still more feeding economy
Life is funny, skies are sunny
Bees make honey, who needs money, monopoly

Id love to change the world
But I dont know what to do
So Ill leave it up to you

World pollution, theres no solution
